In general, each establishment has its own recipe… Secret recipes, as well as those known to the general public.

But there’s one that everyone loves: Guinness chicken wings! This Irish beer is a skilful blend of bitterness and caramel.

Perfect for creating a sweet, enveloping sauce that will give chicken wings a lustrous sheen. The result is a crispy grilled chicken topped with an absolutely delicious sweet and sour sauce. You’ll enjoy savouring these little pieces of chicken with your fingers, while occasionally nibbling on a few fries.

There’s no fuss here: just simple, convivial enjoyment.

You can expect to pay less than €10 for a dish in Irish pubs that offer them à la carte. They have the advantage of being served very quickly, so you don’t have to wait long for maximum pleasure.

Recipe: Guinness chicken wings

Ingredients

  • 2kgs chicken wings
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 4 glasses of Guinness
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 cloves
  • thyme
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • oil

Preparation

  • Slice the onion and garlic and sauté in a little oil in a large frying pan.
  • Once cooked, set aside.
  • Add the chicken wings to the pan, and brown them on both sides.
  • Then add the cooked onion and garlic.
  • Add the chopped carrot, 1 teaspoon thyme, cloves, salt and pepper.
  • Pour in the Guinness and bring to the boil, stirring regularly.
  • Then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Reduce the sauce by half.
  • Place the chicken wings on a baking tray and brush with the remaining sauce.
  • In your oven, on grill mode, grill for 7 minutes on each side, basting regularly with sauce.
  • Just serve hot with French fries!
