Want to impress your friends and revisit Guinness in a gourmet way? Guinness Pudding is for you! It’s a creamy preparation made with Guinness, egg yolks, sugar and cream. A real delicacy that the Irish love to enjoy as a dessert, as a snack, or on the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day!
Easy to make, it can be prepared in Irish homes. But you can also find ready-made ones on the market (Guinness sells them itself!). The end result is delicious, halfway between a Viennese yoghurt and a cake. In short, happiness!
Recipe: Guinness Pudding
Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 80g caster sugar
- 1 can Guinness
- 200g fresh cream
- 150g pastry chocolate
Preparation
- Mix the egg yolks and sugar in a bowl.
- Meanwhile, heat half the Guinness and 150g crème fraîche in a saucepan.
- Stir until gently boiling, then turn off the heat.
- Add the chocolate and stir until smooth.
- Then add the egg yolk/sugar mixture. Stir continuously to prevent the yolk from cooking.
- Return to low heat. The mixture should thicken gradually, after 10 minutes / a quarter of an hour maximum.
- Place in glasses or bowls. Wrap in cling film and chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
- Meanwhile, bring the remaining Guinness to the boil in another saucepan. Reduce for 20 minutes over low heat, stirring regularly.
- Then leave to cool.
- In a bowl, mix the remaining crème fraîche, guinness syrup and 2 tablespoons sugar. beat until you obtain a sort of whipped cream.
- Now all you have to do is take your bowls out of the fridge, and decorate your pudding with whipped cream!
