Of course, the recipe we’re about to present isn’t the only one available in Ireland. There are thousands of them, and it’s all a matter of envy! Nevertheless, our recipe based on chocolate, Bailey’s and Guinness should appeal to you! On the program: sweetness, chocolate, and a touch of green to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day!

In short, the perfect way to enjoy the Irish way of life! Don’t be afraid to be imaginative with your decorations: the kitschier, the better! To be enjoyed by all, with a good cup of Irish tea!

IMPORTANT: if you ever want your children to cook and taste these cupcakes, remove all alcohol from the recipe. It’s just as delicious!

Recipe: St. Patrick’s Day Cupcakes

Ingredients

For 8 cupcakes:

  • 150g flour
  • 150g sugar
  • 120g butter
  • 45g cocoa powder
  • 1 plain yoghurt
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 sachet baking powder
  • salt
  • 125ml Guinness

Icing :

  • 60 g butter
  • 200 g powdered sugar
  • 60 ml Bailey’s
  • a few drops of green food colouring

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 180°C
  • In a bowl, beat the egg, butter and sugar.
  • Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  • Stir well.
  • Add the yoghurt and Guinness.
  • Stir until smooth (not liquid: add flour if necessary).
  • Place the mixture in special silicone cupcake moulds.
  • Bake for 25 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the icing by beating together the butter, powdered sugar, Bailey’s and green food coloring.
  • Place the icing in a piping bag and decorate each cupcake once baked.
  • Note that you can add sugar decorations if required.
  • Enjoy your meal!
