It’s back to work! Tourism in Ireland is set to resume on July 19. Aircraft traffic is set to resume, and tourists are keen to make up for lost time! This news should enable all travellers to visit Ireland… But beware: the reopening of Ireland’s borders will require you to present a health pass to the authorities if you hope to enter the country.
The rules are simple. From July 19, all European travelers wishing to visit Ireland will be able to do so, provided they present a health pass. This passport, which can be presented in paper or digital format, will certify one of the following scenarios:
There are many advantages to presenting this pass: not only does it allow you to travel, it also frees you from the old quarantine constraints. As soon as you are vaccinated (or meet one of the 2 other scenarios), you are automatically accepted on Irish soil, and exempt from compulsory quarantine.
Now it’s your turn to travel freely in Ireland!
And you’ll find a country in full recovery. Ireland will reopen its hotels on June 2, while its Irish pubs and restaurants will be open to the public indoors from July 5.
Museums, meanwhile, are already open, and most tourist attractions will be able to welcome travelers by July 19. All the while respecting the barrier gestures and the wearing of masks.
A big plus for Ireland: the country is sure to attract European tourists who come to enjoy its wide open spaces. They’re fabulous playgrounds for travel, exploration, fun and wonder… without the risk of contamination. Because let’s face it: the risk of contamination is extremely low outdoors!
That’s why Connemara and the Wicklow Mountains National Park are sure to appeal to travellers in search of freedom!
This is an important moment for all of us,” said Prime Minister Michael Martin. After the trauma of the past 15 months, we are finally taking concrete steps to enjoy normal times again with our friends and loved ones, and to welcome foreign travelers,” he said.
However, Mr Martin said that these advances would require vigilance. He also advises us to keep in mind that the battle is not yet over, and that we need to keep barrier measures in mind, even this summer.
The government is closely monitoring the spread of the virus, and will continue to do so, with a particular focus on variants such as the one from India.
However, the government was reassuring. For Irish Minister Leo Varadkar, Covid-19 cases are stable in Ireland. The vaccination campaign has considerably improved the situation, and Ireland is a far cry from the dark months of the early part of the year.
So it’s time to get the country moving again, and open up to tourism. All you have to do is get organized and book your flight. One thing’s for sure: you’ve never been so ready to come back to Ireland!
