Ireland: U2 and the Cranberries now have their own national stamp!
Les Timbres "Irish Great Songs"

The famous Irish bands U2 and the Cranberries have just been honored with the creation of a stamp in their likeness. These stamps, sold in Ireland, are part of a new range called “Great Irish Songs”, specially created by the Irish Post Office.

An opportunity for the latter to pay tribute to Ireland’s musical heritage, and the great songs that made it famous. 4 stamps have just been issued:

  • The Cranberries with the song “Dreams
  • U2 with “With or Without You
  • Count John McCormack with “Danny Boy”.
  • and Luke Kelly with the song “On Raglan Road”.

To mark the occasion, the Irish Post Office (known as “An Post” in Ireland) is planning to organize a concert dedicated to these exceptional songs. These 4 songs will be reinterpreted live from Dublin’s General Post Office by the group Other Voices. An event that’s sure to attract many Irish music fans!

Available from post offices nationwide, Great Irish Songs stamps are valid for Ireland and international mail.

This set of four stamps highlights Ireland’s rich musical heritage, ranging from 17th-century tunes to rock music, poetry and folk ballads,” said the Irish Post’s communications officer.

“These stamps are a celebration of the creativity and power of song to tell important human stories, both Irish and universal.”
