Star Wars 8: the Millennium Falcon lands in Ireland!
Le Faucon Millénium de Star Wars à Malin Head - Niall Carson

Fans of the Star Wars saga are in for a treat: a 300-strong film crew has reportedly been spotted filming the upcoming Episode 8 at Malin Head in Ireland.

While Episode 7 also chose Ireland as the location for some of its most emblematic scenes (notably on Skellig Michael), it would seem that filming for the new opus has already begun!

Numerous travellers and locals have confirmed the information, claiming to have admired the famous Millennium Falcon (Han Solo’s spaceship) on Malin Head, installed on scaffolding on the cliff edge! The photos are impressive!

A few weeks earlier, the film crew would have shot a few scenes on the Dingle Peninsula. In the distance, you could admire the cranes positioned towards Sybil Head. These would have been used to assemble and then dismantle reproductions of “behives huts”, the stone huts that once stood on Skellig Michael. It would appear that these huts will still be present in future episode 8, to ensure continuity with episode 7.

We look forward to seeing the final result in cinemas in 2017!
