The Big 7 Travel website has just published its list of the most beautiful islands on the planet. And it would appear that Ireland’s Aran Islands occupy a special place in the ranking. The Irish archipelago ranks 15th out of a total of 50 islands. It’s an impressive feat, and shows that Ireland has some real treasures to rival the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean!

The Aran Islands archipelago: an undiscovered treasure trove

Wild islands steeped in history and tradition

Big 7 Travel’s list is rather varied… Here, islands from every latitude come face to face… Tropical, Nordic, Australian, Spanish, American… and, of course, Irish! So there’s something for everyone!

And for Big 7 Travel, the islands of Inisheer, Inishmore and Inishmaan in Ireland (which make up the Aran Islands archipelago), have a rightful place in the ranking.

The beauty of these islands is worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. Located off the Irish coast in County Galway, the Aran Islands are a land sculpted by wind, ocean and tradition. You’ll immediately fall under the spell of their wild landscapes, steep cliffs, lighthouses and dry-stone walls criss-crossing green pastures…

And above all, it’s impossible not to dream in front of their incredible archaeological sites. Starting with the Dun Aengus (or Dún Aonghasa) fort, a prehistoric Bronze Age site built around 1,100 BC.

The latter was built on the edge of the Inishmore cliff: situated on the edge of a precipice, it offers a breathtaking view of the ocean! It’s an incredible vestige of prehistoric Ireland!

Each of the three islands has its own charms and tourist attractions. It’s a great place to take a stroll, and discover the quiet rhythm of Irish-Italian life. Here, the locals are charming, living to the rhythm of the seasons, the weather and the ocean.

These three isolated islands off the west coast of Ireland are like stepping back in time, with rural charm and breathtaking scenery,” says Big 7 Travel. Visitors can cycle along the pretty road lined with hand-built stone walls. They can also listen to the local Gaelic language, savor fresh seafood, and enjoy the simple things in life. Steep cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and famous local hospitality make this a must-visit for anyone who loves Ireland.

Maybe that’s enough to convince you to take a trip to these perfect places!
