The eight-episode series“Vikings: Valhalla” will be released on the Netflix streaming platform on Friday, February 25, 2022. A highly-anticipated series, as it is the spin-off of the Viking series, which was already a resounding success! In this new version, the plot is set 100 years after the original series, and tells the story of the heroic adventures of history’s most famous Vikings. Filmed in Ireland, the show promises to be grandiose!
Early fans will not be disappointed. The Vikings: Valhalla series uses the standards of the original series to tell a story that is just as fascinating. And you’re in for a treat when it comes to scenery, as much of the plot was shot at Ashford Studios in County Wicklow, Ireland.
Sensational, majestic landscapes plunge you into a wild atmosphere worthy of the 11th century, the period in which the new story takes place!
The new series is created by Jeb Stuart and produced by original series mastermind Michael Hirst.
We follow the adventures of legendary Viking explorer Leif Erikson (played by Sam Corlett), his sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).
The plot will focus on the Vikings and their presence in England, at a time when they are increasingly torn by the choice between their pagan beliefs and their rallying to the Catholic faith. It’s about social integration, power struggles, wars and revenge.
Here’s a look at the official pitch:
As tensions between the Vikings and the English royal family reach a bloody breaking point, and the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs… Three Vikings are about to embark on an epic journey that will take them across oceans and across battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond. They will fight for their survival and their glory.
All eight episodes of the series will be released on Netflix starting Friday, February 25. We don’t know about you… But we can’t wait!
