Ahakista : Must-See Attractions

Ahakista is a small Irish village located on the Sheep's Head Peninsula, between Durrus and Kilcrohane in County Cork. Situated by the sea, this small coastal village is appreciated for its small deep-water harbour and surrounding forests.
The village is charming, although it has little major tourist interest apart from its prehistoric stone circle located on the outskirts of the village (the Ahakista Circle Stone). The village has a church, 2 Irish pubs, 2 B&Bs and a few local shops. It is crossed by the Sheep's Head Way, an 88 km trail that circles the Sheep's Head Peninsula.
You may come across the Air India Crash Memorial, a monument erected in memory of the 1985 attack, when an Air India aircraft was hit by a bomb while flying over Ireland's west coast. No passengers survived.
