Ballintoy is a small village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is a calm and peaceful place, living to the rhythm of the ocean and the weather. Charming, the village is currently enjoying renewed interest among travellers, as it served as a filming location for the famous Game of Thrones series.

A village famous for its harbour!
Ballintoy is located 28 km north-east of Coleraine and 8 km west of Ballycastle. Picturesque and authentic, it is one of those rather lovely little villages, with colourful streets, an intimate and charming harbour, and very hospitable residents.
The place is peaceful and has plenty of charm.
The star of the area is undoubtedly its small harbour. It is a pleasure to stroll around it, in a very pleasant atmosphere of fishing and sea air.
As a little anecdote, the harbour served as a filming location for HBO’s “Game of Thrones” series. It represents Lordsport on the island of Pyke (the Iron Islands). The harbour was used from season 2 onwards: Theon is baptised there, allowing him to reaffirm his loyalty to his family. Ballintoy Harbour was also used during season 4.
Do not hesitate to stop there and walk along the quay: it is wonderfully refreshing! Finally, step inside one of its Irish pubs, sample the village’s local catch, or meet the residents, who have a particular taste for lively conversations at the pub!
Finally, you should know that Ballintoy is just a stone’s throw from an unforgettable and unmissable attraction! It is impossible to pass through the village without then visiting Carrick-a-Rede Bridge! It is a rope bridge suspended 30 metres above the void! Below lie the ocean and the rocks!
The bridge connects to a small island, Carrick Island, and promises an exceptional thrill! Enough to make even the bravest visitors feel dizzy!
