Ballymoney

Ballymoney is a Northern Irish town of 9,000 inhabitants, located in County Antrim. Although the town is not of enormous tourist interest, Ballymoney has some rather interesting historical monuments, and also holds an annual Festival dedicated to Dramatic Art… And don’t miss the imposing dolmen, less than 3 km from town…

Ballymoney Historical Monuments

If you want to explore Ballymoney town center, don’t miss the church, one of the oldest buildings in the town. Dating from 1637, it has been remarkably well preserved. The clergy still officiate here, and the building is open to all visitors free of charge.

And don’t miss the manor house of the sixth Earl and second Marquess of Antrim. Built in 1775, it once served as a court, school and town hall. The building can be visited for an entrance fee of €5.50. The tour is guided and lasts around 45 minutes.

Finally, don’t forget to pass the town hall, the city’s gigantic building, built in 1866 in typical Georgian style.
