Dame Street

Dame Street (Sráid une Dama in Irish Gaelic) is a famous Dublin thoroughfare, known for its proximity to Temple Bar and OConnell Street. Home to many Irish banks, the corner is very busy, thanks to its privileged location. A lively street at the heart of Dublin’s daily life!

Visit Dame Street

The banks’ landmark

Dame Street is home to most of Dublin’s banks, including AIB, Ulster Bank and the Central Bank of Ireland, making it the equivalent of a real business district.

The street is often teeming with employees in suits and ties, attaché cases in hand, as well as Dubliners strolling along Grafton Street, a popular shopping street for locals.

Young people also stroll to catch up with Trinity College, or grab a bite to eat on Grafton Street.

A stone’s throw from Trinity College and dOConnell Street

Dame Street is particularly busy, thanks to its proximity to Trinity College, the city’s university. A meeting place for young people, it’s also a must for tourists discovering the city. You can go inside, visit the Old Library and discover the Book of Kells, a medieval manuscript adorned with exceptional calligraphy and illumination.

Dame Street is also a 10-minute walk from OConnell Street, the city’s main thoroughfare. So it’s easy to find something to eat, drink or store.
