Roundstone’s pretty town center opens onto a lively fishing port. Local fishermen come and go by day and by night, bringing in superb catches and selling them to passers-by as soon as they get off the boat…
On the program: crab and lobster auctions, shrimp, mackerel, cod… etc. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the day-to-day life of an Irish coastal village!
If, however, you prefer to eat your fish straight from the plate, without having to go through the “kitchen”, Roundstone is teeming with restaurants and pubs offering seafood dishes, all locally caught. Everything is fresh, economical and succulent (always freshly caught).
The village’s downtown area is also very lively, and mainly focused on local crafts. There’s a plethora of artisanal stores selling handmade pottery, jewelry and instruments from the region’s leading luthiers.
Indeed, Roundstone is famous for hosting some of Ireland’s most talented artists, and their stores are never empty during the high tourist season! A must-see!
