Would you like to visit Ireland’s oldest weaving mill still in operation? Avoca Mill is located in the town of Avoca, County Wicklow. Founded in 1723, the company still weaves wool by hand or with traditional machines, and offers its own textile products for sale.
At the Avoca Mill weaving mill, we like to weave wool and cotton for all kinds of garments. From throws and stoles to scarves, hats and coats, the weaving mill offers high-quality textile products!
Known for its use of bright colors, the weaving mill has gradually built up a solid reputation for quality in wool and cotton weaving.
The facility opens its doors to visitors almost every day, to give people a behind-the-scenes look at the business. You’ll discover the principles of weaving, using both ancient and modern machines, and learn all about the techniques used to produce high-quality garments!
There’s also a small store with a coffee corner where you can relax after your visit.
Some of the weaving mill’s products are available for sale to visitors! Prices aren’t cheap, but you’ll leave with the assurance of having opted for a quality product that will last you for years to come. A great gift idea if you want to bring home a souvenir for yourself or your loved ones!
Whether you buy or not, the tour is fun and entertaining. A very warm welcome, and the opportunity to ask your guide questions in French!
