Visiting Clonakilty? We highly recommend a visit to Clonakilty Distillery, an Irish distillery that opened in 2018, and is literally turning the art of distillation on its head! It’s here, in an exceptional setting, that a team of enthusiasts produce an absolutely remarkable artisan whiskey, using ingredients sourced from the local Irish terroir.

Don’t be fooled by the recent origins of the Clonakilty distillery. The establishment has mastered the subject of spirits to perfection, and is already proving to be a rising star in the sector!

Located in the heart of the town of Clonakilty, the winery has taken advantage of its extraordinary environment to produce quality whiskey and gin. The distillery grows its own barley near the Galley Head lighthouse, facing the ocean to produce a beverage of character, with astonishing oceanic flavours.

They also use 3 gleaming copper stills for distillation in the purest respect for ancestral Irish methods!

Finally, a few kilometers away, perched on the edge of a cliff, you’ll find their Atlantic warehouse. This is where the barrels are stored for maturation, then bottled and labeled by hand. The air is infused with the ocean, and visitors leave with a taste of salt on their lips.

The distillery is open to the public! It’s a great opportunity to visit the distillery in a pleasant atmosphere, learn about the production process of their whiskeys and gins and, of course, treat yourself to a little local tasting!
