The Devil’s Punch Bowl is a glacial lake in the hollow of Mangerton Mountain, an 838-meter-high mountain overlooking Killarney in County Kerry. The lake, nestled against the mountain, is a pure marvel! We recommend a hike to the top of the mountain: the view is breathtaking!
The hikes on offer require a solid level of hiking experience. Set off well-equipped and preferably on a clear day. The trail is signposted but rather steep: avoid it with children. You’ll need breath and a bit of stamina.
It will take you around 1.5 hours to get to the summit and 1.5 hours to get back down. So anticipate as much as possible to make the most of your day without having to rush.
Once at the top, the panorama is memorable: the lake lies below in the valley, surrounded by mountains. Its deep blue waters contrast magnificently with the green of the mountains. With an unobstructed view, you’ll be able to admire the surrounding area of County Kerry, with its relief and its sky of a thousand shades.
Don’t hesitate to take photos!
