EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum is one of Dublin’s must-see museums. Housed within the walls of the famous CHQ Building on Custom House Quay, the establishment is one of the city’s top attractions, and is entirely dedicated to Irish emigration and its diaspora scattered around the world.
It plunges you into the terrible world of Irish travelers, embarking on dangerous crossings, fleeing the Great Famine, misery and poverty… in search of success in other countries such as the United States, Canada and Australia.
An edifying, modern and interactive museum, where you can find out if you yourself are an Irish descendant!
EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum – EPIC Ireland CHQ Limited
More than 10 million Irish left their country for new horizons.
10 million to make perilous and sometimes deadly journeys, to escape poverty, famine or simply to try their luck elsewhere… in faraway lands full of promise.
Crammed onto unsanitary ships, suffering from disease or hunger… The journeys of these Irishmen were not always salutary, and sometimes took on tragic dimensions, between shipwrecks and health disasters in terrifying coffin ships.
These are the stories told by EPIC (EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum), which strives to give an accurate account of Irish emigration in all its forms.
To help you get the most out of this experience, the museum gives you a passport at the start of your visit. You’ll have to identify yourself as an Irish traveller of yesteryear… and try to get your passport stamped at the end of your visit!

The museum devotes a large part of its exhibition to the Irish diaspora in the United States, their living conditions there, and the expansion of Irish culture in America, particularly in Boston.
