Game of Thrones Tours

Irish tourist routes

For fans of the famous and legendary TV series Game of Thrones, a Dublin-based tourism and transport company is offering you the chance to retrace the footsteps of the series’ filming, with a tour that will take you from the filming locations all the way to Northern Ireland! Will you be tempted?

The Game of Thrones Tour (Winterfell Day Tour)

Follow in the footsteps of the Iron Throne series!

The Dublin Winterfell Day Tour lasts a full day and starts in the morning from Dublin city center. We invite you to follow in the footsteps of the series, by visiting some of its most memorable filming locations. On the program: grandiose landscapes, thick forests, lakes, mountains, and above all, visits to castles! The icing on the cake: you’ll even be able to wield the series’ weapons!

Here’s an overview of the program:

  • 8:30 am: meeting point at the Jurys Inn, on North Wall Quay, Dublin. You’ll then board a black bus in the series’ colors: impossible to miss!
  • 8.45am: departure from Dublin.
  • 9h45/10h00: crossing the border into Northern Ireland, then discovering the Mourne Coast Road.
  • 12:00 pm: stop at Strangford, then Castle Ward, where you’ll discover “Winterfell”, the show’s iconic location. Here, you’ll visit a 17th-century castle, the banks of the River Strangford, and a second 15th-century castle: Tower House, which was used as Walder Frey’s twin tower and also as the site of Robb’s camp. For those wishing to fully immerse themselves in the site, archery will be on offer, as well as a session where you can dress up in the series’ clothes.
  • 2:15pm: photo stop at the spot where Catelyn and Robb learn of Ned’s death.
  • 3.30pm: stop-off at Tollymore Forest Park, a 630-hectare forest where some of the most important scenes in the series were filmed.
  • 4:30pm: Return to Dublin, arriving around 6:30pm.

Please note that lunch is included in the day.
