Do you love the great Irish outdoors? Then don’t miss Glengesh Pass, a fabulous mountain pass in County Donegal, near the Irish town of Ardara. It can be reached by car, but is also an ideal spot for hiking… On the agenda: breathtaking scenery and views that would be a mistake not to photograph!
Glengesh Pass can be reached via the N56, west of the small town of Ardara. It can be done by bus or car, but also by bike for the bravest who don’t mind putting their calves to the test.
The road is a succession of twists and turns. The road climbs, and that can be a challenge for athletes!
The further you travel along the road, the higher you climb… giving you access to an exceptional panorama of the Irish valley. There, it’s all greenery and light. A splendid panorama that becomes increasingly beautiful as you climb.
Take care when climbing by car: the road is notoriously poorly maintained! There are sometimes potholes, narrow shoulders… In short, vigilance is the order of the day!
Once you’ve reached the highest point, you can park your car and plan a hike to discover the beauty of the area. A few footpaths will take you to the heights of Glengesh Pass, and its impressive views…
Don’t forget your camera: the view is simply sublime, and you’ll feel very small in the face of such vast wilderness. The Glengesh Pass is a fine example of typical Irish landscape. A postcard-perfect view!
