Healys Island is a wild, uninhabited Irish island off the coast of County Clare. You can easily admire it as you head towards Loop Head. It’s a fascinating sight, and well worth a stop near the cliffs for a closer look!
Healys Island – Raymond Fogarty
Healys Island lies less than 10 kilometers off the cliffs of Loop Head. The island takes the shape of an inverted comma, and seems to have been detached over the centuries from the country’s cliffs.
The result is a magnificent island, quite high, with sheer cliffs similar to those of Loop Head. The island’s plateau is fairly flat and uniform, covered in grass.
The configuration of the island means that Healys Island is inaccessible to visitors. Nevertheless, you can observe it from land! And the show is well worth a few photos!
