Hill of Slane is a hill in County Meath. It is famous for its charming ruins and archaeological remains. A great tourist site, just a 15-minute drive from Newgrange or Tara Hill!
Today, Slane Abbey can be visited, even though it is in ruins. We recommend that you take care during your visit, and avoid touching the walls, or even getting too close: the stones may still be loose!
The architecture is still magnificent, and the setting exceptional! You’ll dominate the entire region, and can even make out the hill of Tara in the distance!
And don’t miss the little cemetery! You’ll come across carved Celtic crosses and tombs dating back to the 6th century!
