Lough Feeagh is an Irish lake in County Mayo. It is the largest single lake in the Burrishoole watershed, which consists of seven lakes and numerous river and stream connections. This magnificent site, north of the town of Newport, offers sumptuous panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Lough Feeagh has the advantage of being not far from the Wild Atlantic Way circuit. Although a little further inland, it’s a real treat for wilderness lovers!
You’ll have the chance to admire it on a hike along the lake. The surrounding mountains are magnificent and won’t spoil your exploration!
The lake is also famous for its wild salmon! In fact, Mayo County has decided to close the lake to fishing, in order to preserve the vein and encourage the regular renewal of the species. (Also, note that only the neighboring lake (Lough Furnace) is open to salmon fishing from June 10 to September 30. ).
The lake also promises a wonderful walk in an idyllic setting, often overlooked by tourists. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine dreamy landscapes with peace and quiet!
