Eleven years ago, a burst of local creativity covered the cobblestones of Crampton Court with hearts and messages of love. Visitors engraved their initials on the cobblestones, sharing their tender passage of time in this country-style setting in the heart of the city. Love Lane may not (yet) be as famous as the Pont des Arts in Paris, but it offers a truly intimate haven for those who know how to spot it.
Recently, Dublin City Council and the Temple Bar Company commissioned muralist Anna Doran to restore the alley.
She transformed the old fresco into a veritable open-air gallery, mixing song lyrics, poem excerpts and famous quotations around deconstructed hearts.
The result? A bright, colorful alley, where each tile tells a story of love, friendship or passion.
Love Lane has quickly become a star on TikTok, where influencers around the world rate her as a “must-do when in Dublin”.
Getting to Love Lane is child’s play: take Crampton Court, just behind the 3 Olympia Theatre, a stone’s throw from Temple Bar. The lane is open non-stop, and the best time to enjoy the soft light and take photos without the crowds is early morning or late afternoon. Don’t forget to take along an indelible marker to leave your personal mark, while respecting the original spirit: add a message, not erase those of others!
Let’s face it, this alleyway is a bit like the Pont des Arts in Paris, where lovers hang padlocks as a sign of love. Same concept, but a very different experience!
For Love Lane celebrates the diversity of love and friendship, in a city where romance is shared around every corner. It’s Dublin’s most tender street art experience, and a must for anyone wanting to add a touch of poetry to their city-break.
The icing on the cake is that the experience is totally free, and allows you to leave your mark in the very heart of the city! Isn’t that nice!

Prefer an early-morning visit, as the alleyway is narrow and can quickly become crowded during the tourist season.
