A moss-covered forest!

The Mossy Woods Nature Trail is located near Muckross Manor, in the heart of Kilarney National Park.

Very popular with hikers, this forest is a little marvel if you love wilderness.

Way-marked trails take you into the heart of the forest, where you can admire the beauty of its trees, streams and lush vegetation…

The moss has completely covered certain areas of the forest: the sight is quite astonishing.

Beautiful in spring, the foliage changes in autumn, so it can be enjoyed all year round! Don’t forget to bring good hiking boots: although the forest doesn’t require a high level of fitness, the mossy trail is particularly slippery, and it’s best to set off well equipped (backpack, water bottle and energy bars).

The forest is superb, and ideal as a prelude to exploring Killarney National Park. Don’t hesitate to pick up a map at the Visitor Centre: it’ll give you a good idea of how to get around the forest!
