Slieve Carr is a mountain in Ballycroy National Parc, a national park in County Mayo. Considered the park’s highest peak, Slieve Carr rises to over 721 meters and is part of the Nephin Beg mountain range. It is a real challenge for hikers. Discover Slieve Carr

A demanding mountain with serious charm

Slieve Carr is not a mountain accessible to all walkers. The steep gradient and high altitude make this a difficult and sometimes dangerous mountain. There are 2 ways to discover it:

  • Many will be content to admire it from the road and appreciate its majesty.
  • Braver climbers can try their hand at it (group departures mandatory for greater safety, with the necessary equipment).

The view from the top of Slieve Carr is breathtaking, taking in the whole park and its 11,000 hectares of wilderness and mountains.

Below, don’t miss the valley’s peaceful little lakes and stretches of deserted moorland.

The show is well worth seeing!
