Visit St Lua’s oratory

A 12th-century oratory

The Monastery of Saint Lua remains to this day. Built between 1000 and 1150 A.D., it was moved to the Killaloe site around 1920 following the construction of a hydroelectric power station.

The latter is in remarkable condition, with walls and roof still in place. Although closed to visitors, you can still admire the exterior architecture, and take advantage of the small information panel right in front of it. The latter presents the history of the monastery, its relocation… etc. A beautiful site, with authentic charm!
