The Convention Centre Dublin (often referred to as CCD) is a superb modern building in Dublin, inaugurated in 2010… One of the most beautiful buildings in the whole of Dublin, it was built on the banks of the River Liffey and boasts a unique glass atrium… A sight to behold, especially with its reflections regularly illuminating the river!
The Convention Centre Dublin is primarily used to host international conferences and seminars.
Considered one of the world’s leading conference centers, it boasts bold architecture and sumptuous comfort. Impressive for its modernity and cylindrical, inclined architecture, it can accommodate several thousand people for a single conference. A feat that few conference centers in the rest of the world can boast.
CCD is located in Dublin’s Docklands district. Easily accessible, it’s one of the new buildings that have literally transformed the neighborhood. For here, you’ll find nothing but ultra-modern buildings, where architects vie with each other for original ideas.
Incidentally, the building was designed by a particularly fashionable Irish-American architect: Kevin Roche. The boldness of the building has enabled CCD to become the symbol of a true renewal for the city of Dublin.
A big plus: the Convention Centre Dublin faces the River Liffey, offering exceptional views of the river and the rest of the city. It’s not uncommon for it to light up at night, in the colors of the Irish flag. It’s also decked out in green for St. Patrick’s Day: a nod to the city’s dynamism!
Unless you are planning to attend an on-site conference, the building cannot be visited. Nevertheless, we recommend a stroll along the docks: you’ll be able to admire the architecture from the outside, and enjoy the charm of the Liffey!
