Of prehistoric origin, Dún Dúchathair once served as a place of defense for the local population. Today, all that remains are numerous defensive walls, up to 6 meters high and 5 meters wide. These walls sometimes describe the outlines of ancient rooms, enabling researchers to learn more and more about life in those days.
The ruins of ancient huts can also be found inside the surrounding walls. According to archaeologists, this is where numerous prehistoric tools and pottery have been found.
The visit is free, and the surroundings magnificent. Over time, Dún Dúchathair has sunk to a rocky mound close to the sea. It’s a fascinating sight to behold! Don’t forget to bring your camera!
