For fans of vintage photography, don’t miss the Lawrence Collection Costume Photography, a permanent photo exhibition located in the Irish town of Bunratty. This exhibition brings together the finest photographs from the 1800s and showcases the work of William Mervin Laurent…
The exhibition is entirely devoted to the photographic work of William Mervin Laurent, an artist who decided to open his own photo studio in 1865. He was 24 at the time. Located opposite Dublin’s Genral Post Office on Sackville Street, his studio began to exhibit an impressive collection of photographs taken all over Ireland.
A magnificent work, which today enables Bunratty’s Lawrence Collection to present over 40,000 photos taken between 1865 and 1914.
The tour is fun, and takes you right to the heart of Irish daily life at the time. There’s nothing missing: work in the fields, everyday rural life in the big cities, war photos… Everything you need to feel the intensity of Irish history is here, in remarkable and innovative shots for the time!
One of the best things to do in Bunratty!
