The Lomanagh Loop is one of the easiest walks in County Kerry. Suitable for beginners, most of the walk is made up of tarmac roads and forest trails, which means the terrain is fairly easy to get to grips with. The icing on the cake is that it’s not only accessible, but also boasts magnificent, unspoilt scenery!
The Lomanagh Loop starts in Sneem, a small, colorful village in the Ring of Kerry. The loop is easy to find and fairly well signposted. It’s perfect for walkers, joggers and simple strollers who want to immerse themselves in the heart of the Irish wilderness.
It’s worth noting that the trail quickly delivers on its promise: it takes you through forest paths, while skirting the coastline, with its authentic seascapes. The ocean never seems far away!
The hike can easily be completed in an afternoon and usually takes around 3 hours. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon before returning to Sneem, to settle down, push open the door of a local pub, and set off on new explorations!
