Mountains, islands, and a tourist route: the Ring of Kerry!

The Iveragh Peninsula is crossed by a vast mountain range called the “Macgillycuddy’s Reeks.” This range consists of large passes and high peaks, including Carrauntuohill, the highest mountain in all of Ireland!

A true paradise for walkers (all levels combined), the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks offer superb routes allowing you to discover all the wild beauty of Iveragh!

The Iveragh Peninsula has one of the most famous tourist routes in all of Southwest Ireland: the Ring of Kerry, a 180 km circuit that explores the most beautiful spots of the peninsula!

The route can be done by car (or by bike for the more courageous), and will let you discover the wonders of the Irish coasts, its cliffs, but also the wild nature of the surrounding mountains, with truly exceptional viewpoints over bays and other Irish beaches…

You can also take the opportunity to visit the main villages along the route, discovering Killarney, Kenmare, Sneem, Waterville, Caherciveen, and Killorglin, small villages and towns located by the water, living to the rhythm of the ocean, fishing, and tourist trade.

For lovers of wild islands, you will not be disappointed: the Iveragh Peninsula consists of a string of small islands, including the famous Skellig Islands, two wonderful islands once inhabited by monks, and Valentia Island, an island 11 km long and 3 km wide, connected to Ireland by a bridge built in 1971, linking it to the village of Portmagee.

These three islands are visitable and have a well-known historical heritage… We especially recommend visiting the monastic sites of the Skellig Islands, as well as the stone huts (bories) where the monks of the time lived…
