The Turoe Stone is located in the center of the village of Bullaun in County Galway, Ireland, north of Loughrea.
The stone is displayed outside, on a protected lawn in front of Turoe House. Sealed in a concrete base, it is considered a small historical treasure. The upper half of the stone is then covered with Celtic engravings, alternating spirals and organic ornamentation. The engravings are fine, with an average depth of 3cm.

Although deteriorated over the years, the motifs are still clear and recognizable. According to the researchers, the stone did not originate in Bullaun, but was engraved in the Neolithic period in the Irish countryside near the village of Bullaun, before being moved to the center to protect it. This imposing stone is well worth a visit, and is strangely reminiscent of the Castlestrange stone, another engraved megalith, this one located in County Roscommon!
