If there’s one name to remember in the world of cinema right now, it’s Daryl McCormack, an eagle-eyed Irishman who is currently establishing himself as an excellent actor! This is borne out by his roles in the series Bad Sisters and Peaky Blinders, as well as the film “Mes rendez-vous avec Leo”, in which he stars opposite the great Emma Thompson.
His handsome face, coupled with his accurate acting, made him a figure of growing celebrity. So remember his name: Drayl McCormack has a lot to tell the world!
Daryl McCormack was born on January 22, 1993, the fruit of a union between his Irish mother, Theresa McCormack, and his African-American father, Alfred Thomas, originally from Baltimore.
They met during a memorable summer in California.
After becoming pregnant, Theresa returned to Ireland and raised Daryl in Nenagh, in picturesque County Tipperary.
Despite the geographical distance, Daryl has always maintained strong ties with his paternal family, including his grandfather Percy Thomas, who runs a theater company and has been a father figure to him.
During his school years, Daryl attended CBS St. Louis. The story goes that he also showed great aptitude for hurling, but his aspirations quickly fell by the wayside…
After high school, his passion for the stage led him to pursue advanced studies in drama. He then studied at the Dublin Institute of Technology before enrolling at the prestigious Gaiety School of Acting, where he graduated in Arts in 2014.
Let’s face it: Daryl McCormack is a very handsome man. Métis with light green eyes, he has a charm and presence that make him particularly telegenic. Add to this his subtle and astonishing acting, and you have a complete actor, capable of touching the viewer.
Also, Daryl McCormack made a grand entrance in 2018 on the stage of London’s prestigious West End Theatre. He plays Brendan in “The Lieutenant of Inishmore”, a work that combines humor and gravity to paint a complex portrait of Irish life.
This role was a milestone in her career, opening the door to new theatrical opportunities.
Not content to limit himself to a single genre, McCormack then proved his versatility by playing Romeo in a production of “Romeo and Juliet” and assuming the lead role in the Shakespearean tragedy “Othello”.
What’s even more fascinating about his budding career is how close he came to being part of one of the biggest film franchises of all time. Indeed, McCormack had been seriously considered for a role in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. Although it didn’t materialize in the end, the experience was undoubtedly a turning point, reinforcing his desire to succeed in the film world.
In 2019, McCormack adds a new string to his bow by landing the role of Isaiah Jesus in the fifth season of the hit series “Peaky Blinders”. This role enabled him to enter the inner circle of top drama series actors, cementing his reputation as an actor capable of tackling complex, nuanced roles.

But McCormack’s talent isn’t limited to the screen or stage; he’s also tried his hand at independent cinema.
So, in 2022, he stars alongside the legendary Emma Thompson in the Sophie Hyde-directed film,“My Dates with Leo“. In this behind-closed-doors film, McCormack plays a sex worker who comes to a hotel at the request of Emma Thompson, a senior citizen in search of herself.
The intimate film is magnificent, shining as much for the quality of its writing as for the magnificent performances of Daryl McCormack and Emma Thompson.
The Irish actor brings a great deal of subtlety to his role. Yet the exercise was far from easy. The film brings together 2 individuals separated by age, experience and life paths.
The actor brings great depth and nuance to a character who could easily have been stereotyped.
The film is a success and all eyes turn to Daryl. For many, the actor has a bright future in film and television. Handsome, sensitive and talented, he is one of the rising stars in Ireland and Hollywood.
The same year, he took part in the series Bad Sisters, where he played the role of an insurance agent investigating an alleged murder perpetrated by a family of 5 sisters. He stars as Bono’s daughter Eve Hewson, and delivers a performance every bit as interesting as the previous ones.
Future projects are already on the drawing board. But there’s no doubt that the young Irishman will be appearing in future major productions!
