Dermot Kennedy’s style is hard to describe. It’s a clever blend of folk, electro and hip-hop inspirations. It’s a beautiful combination of darkness and light, which always makes his songs emotionally charged.
Dermot Kennedy made his name playing on the streets of Dublin. He was soon spotted by Irish singer Glen Hansard, who gave him the opportunity to record his first songs and open for him in concert. His first live performances earned him the interest of The Irish Times newspaper and the BBC: all the critics agreed on the young Dubliner’s talent. His initially unnoticed single “After Rain” is a big hit on Spotify.
This was the singer’s chance to reveal himself: he was offered the opportunity to play 2 concerts, and then to record his very first EP, entitled “Doves & Ravens”. He was then 25 years old.
The EP was a hit. The British scene snapped him up, and a giant tour was organized. Since then, there’s been no stopping the young Irishman. He sings with passion and gives his all to every track, much to the delight of the audience.
One thing’s for sure: Dermot Kennedy still has a lot to show us!
