A video creating a buzz and bringing smiles on social media. One thing is certain: this driver is famous despite himself!

Near Dublin Airport, aviation enthusiasts have their eyes fixed on the runways. But in a video shared on 1 October 2026, their patience is tested by a far more terrestrial vehicle: a bus slowly crossing their line of sight. A few impatient gestures, a smile from behind the wheel, and this everyday scene takes on the feel of a small Irish comedy.

In Dublin, the spectacle arrives by road

A bus in the aviation enthusiasts’ line of sight

The clip, shared on TikTok by Explore With Zavbak and then picked up by Extra.ie, takes place near “The Mound”, on Old Airport Road. This informal gathering spot attracts enthusiasts who come to watch planes near the airport. For those hoping to capture an aircraft at just the right moment, one obstacle is enough to upset the composition.

This time, the obstacle is the imposing silhouette of a bus. The vehicle moves slowly in front of the onlookers, blocking their view. Some gesture for it to continue on its way. The camera then moves in on the driver and lingers on his smile. It is this detail that gives the scene its full flavour: for a few seconds, attention shifts from the planes to the man behind the wheel.

One smile, two readings of the scene

Teasing remains only a possibility

Was the driver enjoying prolonging the photographers’ wait? That is the mischievous interpretation suggested by some reactions reported by Extra.ie. The contrast works: on one side, enthusiasts eager to regain an unobstructed view; on the other, a driver whose smile seems to accompany their impatience.

Another explanation, also raised by the outlet, is more prosaic: the bus may have been waiting for a car to clear the way. The video does not establish the driver’s intention. His smile is therefore not proof of a deliberate joke, even if it adds to the comic effect of the clip.

The charm of these images lies precisely in this small mismatch. Around an airport, where everyone is usually watching what takes off or lands, the passing of a simple bus becomes the event. A brief slice of local life, with just enough ambiguity to raise a smile.
