In Dublin, gallery doors open onto painted landscapes, installations, images and conversations. Dublin Gallery Weekend invites visitors to explore the capital and discover Irish contemporary art in a variety of venues that turn the city into a cultural trail.

A festival in the capital’s galleries and institutions

Presented by the Contemporary Art Gallery Association (CAGA) and produced by SoSimpatico, Dublin Gallery Weekend brings galleries, artists and cultural institutions together for exhibitions and events open to a range of audiences.

The event offers both regular gallery-goers and curious visitors the chance to discover contemporary works. Painting, sculpture, photography, moving image and other forms of creative expression come together in a programme spread across the city.

From exhibitions to meetings with artists

Exhibitions form the heart of the trail. They are accompanied by discussions with artists, guided tours, screenings, workshops, performances and events centred on art books. Each venue creates its own offering, so the festival is best experienced by choosing a few stops rather than trying to see everything.

In 2026, the announced programme includes meetings at Green On Red Gallery, discussions around exhibitions at Solomon Fine Art and visits to several venues across the capital. The National Gallery of Ireland is also hosting events associated with the festival. Participants and offerings may change, so check the official programme before your visit.

Exploring Dublin’s galleries

Creating your own cultural itinerary

The diversity of venues is part of Dublin Gallery Weekend’s appeal. A commercial gallery, an arts centre and a national institution do not present works in the same way; moving between them offers an opportunity to explore several facets of the Irish contemporary art scene.

To make the most of a day, locate the addresses on the festival map and group your visits by neighbourhood. Allow extra time if you would like to attend a discussion or join a guided tour.

The Dublin guide allows you to round off this trail with the capital’s museums, monuments and neighbourhoods.
