Shepherd’s pie is a typical Irish specialty! Made with potatoes, beef, carrots and peas, this dish resembles a shepherd’s pie au gratin. A delight that can be enjoyed at the pub or in a gourmet restaurant! The Irish love them!
Shepherd’s pie
Irish-style shepherd’s pie au gratin!
Shepherd’s pie isn’t really a pie at all, contrary to its name.
It’s actually a kind of gratin made up of a layer of meat and vegetables, followed by a layer of mashed potatoes au gratin made with cheese and breadcrumbs.
Delicious with a green salad and a pint of Irish beer: a classic!
Expect to pay less than €10 in an Irish Pub for this dish… However, some top restaurants will charge much more for it!
