Perhaps you thought you’d tasted and tested everything there was to know about Irish gastronomy? But have you ever tried the “Breakfast Duck”, a typical Northern Irish breakfast? On the menu: grilled duck, bacon, waffles, fried eggs and coffee! An explosive combination that will melt your heart (provided you’re not put off by salty food in the morning!).
But what’s the point of eating duck for breakfast? Admittedly, such a breakfast item is far from common in French-speaking countries. But in Northern Ireland, we don’t do anything like other people!
It doesn’t matter whether it requires preparation or not: breakfast is sacred! Although it’s not a daily habit in Northern Ireland either, this meal of champions will delight you and will undoubtedly send your cholesterol levels through the roof.
The recipe is simple, but demanding. You’ll need to prepare your duck, wrap it in bacon and place it in the oven. A few waffles and a fried egg on top will do the rest!
The taste is delicious (though a little stiff if you have a weak stomach in the morning).
