A yellow edition with Third Man Records, announced for 13 November 2026 and intended for independent record shops.

A record can make an impression before the needle even touches the groove. For Carnaval De Luz, U2 has chosen yellow: the colour of the vinyl, set against black packaging. Announced on 30 September 2026, this limited edition, produced with Third Man Records, is intended for independent record shops. It is due for release on 13 November 2026. For fans of the Irish band, the announcement offers another way to approach the album: through an object, its design and the places where music can still be discovered on the shelves.

A new U2 record, an edition designed for record shops

Yellow as a visual signature

The official U2 announcement describes a yellow pressing in yellow-and-black packaging. Creative direction has been entrusted to Gavin Friday, while Shaughn McGrath is responsible for art direction and design, in collaboration with the Third Man Records team. These choices give this version an identity of its own, beyond its musical content.

The edition is described as limited, but the announcement does not specify how many copies have been pressed. It is therefore not possible to say that it will be numbered, or to gauge its rarity. Its appeal lies first and foremost in the meeting of U2’s music and the work devoted to its physical form.

A release expected on 13 November 2026

On its official website, U2 announces Carnaval De Luz as an album of twelve new songs, due for release on 13 November. It is presented as the band’s first studio album in nine years. This wording refers to new studio albums: it does not mean that U2 has released nothing during that period.

Availability: what we know before looking for a copy

The Third Man shop checked lists it as sold out

As of 6 October 2026, the Third Man UK/EU shop listing states “Sold Out”. It indicates shipping from 13 November, but it was not possible to place an order when we checked. A pre-order announcement and actual availability are two different things.

This applies to that shop. It does not prove that every independent record shop has sold out of its allocation, nor that there will be a restock. No specific stock at an Irish shop has been confirmed for this item. Before travelling or paying, ask the retailer whether the yellow edition is actually available, whether your order guarantees a copy, and when it can be collected or dispatched.

A cultural lead for a stay in Ireland

For a U2-loving traveller, the announcement may offer one more reason to step inside a record shop. A shop also tells the story of a city: the new releases it champions, the records it keeps, the conversations that take place there. Still, it is better to make this search part of a musical stroll than to plan a trip around the promise of an unconfirmed copy.

The colour of the pressing sets this edition apart; it guarantees neither better sound quality nor an increase in value. The most useful advice remains simple: choose the record for the music and the object you want to keep, then check the exact edition, delivery costs and the retailer’s terms.
