Caherdaniel

Caherdaniel is a charming little village in County Kerry, steeped in history and surrounded by landscapes of great rugged beauty. It’s the ideal place to stop if you’re following the Ring of Kerry circuit. There’s plenty to see and do nearby, and it’s also a good place to base yourself and spend one or more nights!

The village of Caherdaniel is located 65 km from Killarney, and is one of the villages on the Ring of Kerry route (a tourist circuit covering over 180 km in County Kerry).

The village is popular for its location on the Iveragh Peninsula in the Glenmore Valley, with sandy beaches, rolling mountains, lakes, rivers and ancient stone forts nearby.

For the record, Caherdaniel has a strong history. The area is rich in archaeological remains, and is said to be an ancient copper-mining site…

Caherdaniel is also said to be the home of Daniel O’Connell, a famous man in Irish history, who was consecrated as the “liberator of the Irish people”. His house, known as “Derynane House”, is one of the village’s top tourist attractions!
