Barleycove beach is one of those unspoilt spots that only Ireland can offer. It has to be said that this beach isn’t just a place to take a dip: it’s above all a fabulous spot to discover the full expression of the Emerald Isle’s wild nature!
Because wherever you look, whether towards the ocean or the Irish mainland, the view is breathtaking, with its shades of blue, green and grey! Whatever the weather, the landscape changes with the day and the light: it’s a feast for the eyes.
As well as being magnificent, the site has the advantage of being bordered by an estuary… This makes swimming safer for children: the beach is much safer than elsewhere.
The beach is ideal for a romantic getaway with family or friends. The fine sand is incredible, and a real pleasure to lay your towel on. As for the water, well, no miracle, we’re still in Ireland! In other words, it’s possible to swim here in summer – but only in summer!
The beach is one of the surfers’ favorite spots, with good rollers when the wind blows a little. Enough to satisfy beginners and seasoned surfers alike!
Horseback riding on the beach is also possible. It’s a great way to experience the charm of Irish beaches in an authentic and original way!
And don’t miss the famous Mizen Head, less than 10 minutes from here: a lighthouse perched high up at the very end of the Peninsula. You’ll have to cross an impressive metal bridge to get there. A real lighthouse at the end of the world, ultra-touristy and famous in Ireland!
