Founded in 1934, Belfast Zoo is still a popular attraction for Northern Irish families! It’s here that you can stroll through beautiful tree-lined gardens, while admiring superb animal species such as Asian elephants, Malaysian bears and Sumatran tigers. It has to be said that the zoo is a particularly active organization when it comes to raising awareness of endangered species. The zoo’s stance is very much in evidence within the park: admission tickets to the zoo help fund numerous programs to preserve endangered species, and there are many explanatory signs denouncing the current situation.
The animals are magnificent and sometimes very atypical (like their tapir, or their monkeys, which turn out to be particularly playful). Well cared for, the animals are perfectly housed and enjoy a magnificent, enchanting setting. On-site picnic facilities, tea room, souvenir store and children’s playground.
