Church House is the official headquarters of Beflast Presbyterians in Northern Ireland. Built in 1905, the building resembles a Gothic manor house, and is less than 5 minutes’ walk from Belfast City Hall. The building is a must-see for tourists… if only for the beauty of its architecture.
Church House is located in Belfast city center, at the junction of Fisherwick Place, Great Victoria Street, Howard Street and Grosvenor Road. It was built in 1905 by the Duke of Argyll, and features a 40-metre-high clock tower! Topped with a copper roof, it’s an impressive sight!
The building can be visited quickly, but it’s worth remembering that Church House is first and foremost the headquarters of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
Highlights include an impressive meeting room. With its oval shape and gallery, it can accommodate up to 1,300 people! The room is lit by a glass skylight, which is now artificially illuminated.
