Set on a hill overlooking the village of Mullaghmore, Classiebawn Castle is an Irish castle in County Sligo. It’s like something out of a fairy tale, set against the rugged coastline of Ireland, with breathtaking views of Ben Bulben, one of the region’s most famous mountains. The place is wild and enchanting. We particularly appreciate the château’s atypical architecture, with its Victorian seigniorial style, which was very fashionable in the 19th century!

Built in the 19th century by Dublin architect J Rawson Carrol, Classiebawn Castle is set in over 3,000 hectares of grounds.
The castle was once the home of Lord Louis Mountbatten, who enjoyed spending his vacations here.
The Lord, however, never appreciated the castle’s distinctive charm, preferring instead to appreciate its exceptional setting, with its marvellous panorama over the Ben Bulben and the Atlantic Ocean.
It has to be said that the château has a rather atypical charm. Its Victorian style has a lot to do with it, and some criticize its austerity, while others praise it as a true architectural marvel. Feel free to make up your own mind: we love it!
Although you can’t visit it, you’ll have no trouble photographing it, and admiring its yellowish-brown sandstone stones, specially transported by sea from County Donegal.
The château features an attractive central tower with a conical roof, 4 reception rooms, 10 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
The rest of the buildings were reserved for staff accommodation and kitchens.
To get there, just take a driveway not far from the village of Mullaghmore.
