If you want to walk the Cliffs of Moher, the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk is a must. It runs north from the cliffs, linking the villages of Liscannor and Doolin. Spectacular views, combining lush green landscapes, ocean vistas and eroded coastlines. One of the most beautiful spectacles the island of Ireland has to offer!

For lovers of wide open spaces and nature walks, the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk promises total immersion in a typically Irish landscape.
The trail stretches for 20 kilometers, and requires between 4 and 5 hours’ walking (at a leisurely pace).
But beware: the circuit requires a good level of walking and a certain stamina. Avoid walking it with small children…
Because the trail crosses a variety of terrain, including narrow, steep passages along ridges, stone staircases, farm roads, as well as local and regional tracks. Some areas are dangerous and require caution and practice.
Whether you’re walking alone or with a companion, you’ll need to be careful: the trail can sometimes flirt with the void. Stay more than 2 or 3 meters away from the precipice, and keep an eye on your children: the area has no safety infrastructure, and accidents have already happened (notably due to dangerous selfies or sudden gusts of wind).
We even advise you to seek out the expertise of guides (present at the Cliffs of Moher) for a safe and rewarding hiking experience.
It’s best to go out in good weather: the ocean winds that sweep over the cliffs can quickly change, while dense fog, common in this region, can considerably reduce visibility in places.
So don’t forget to dress warmly for any situation! (Chunky sweater, rain jacket, lighter T-shirt… adopt the onion technique and spread out as the weather takes you!)
And don’t forget to take water and snacks with you: there’s nothing along the way to refuel except in Doolin, at the end of your hike.
Your adventure on the Cliffs of Moher Trail begins as soon as you enter the Cliffs of Moher Experience, the official tourist site that unveils the beauty of the cliffs. Visit the Visitor Centre, take in the sights from O’Brian’s Tower… and then start your walk!
Just head north along the marked trail. The latter will gradually take you away from the Cliffs of Moher Experience to offer you an increasingly wild experience, where nature wins out over human presence.
Above all, take your time, and don’t hesitate to take photos. The views are breathtaking, worthy of postcard landscapes, and a change of scenery is guaranteed.
You’ll then pass through a succession of places, each as different as the next: whether across fields, over stony or muddy passages. Always, with an incredible view as your travelling companion!
After 4 to 5 hours of progress, you’ll land in Doolin, on Fisher Street. Be sure to stop off at Gus O’Connor’s, a very popular Irish pub in Doolin village, located right next to a parking lot. This is your chance to take a well-deserved break, enjoy a delicious Irish dish and take part in a traditional session!
