Clogher Strand is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. With its pristine white sands, the lush green grassy expanses a little higher up, and the rugged coastline all around, this beach gives the impression of being alone in the world, far from civilization! A magical place, ideal for a break overlooking the ocean!
If you love wild beaches, then Clogher Beach is the place for you! The beauty of the landscape alone makes it a truly charming place to visit. It describes a pretty cove, marked by transparent waters that turn turquoise in summer.
It fits perfectly into the picturesque landscape of the Dingle Peninsula.
When it comes to activities, it offers a wealth of possibilities! Start with a swim (but beware, the water is very cold in winter. Give it a try, but only on a warm summer’s day. Beware of currents, too, and prefer a calm sea day). But you can also enjoy a picnic in the open air, a little siesta or a few games with the kids in the sand.
If you’re more of a wanderlust type, we recommend a short hike to explore the coastline. Set off from the beach and follow the coastline, and you’ll come across some of the most beautiful scenery on the Dingle Peninsula. Good equipment is recommended: good walking shoes.
Last but not least, Clogher Strand is most famous for having been used as a filming location for 2 iconic Irish movies: “Distant Horizons” (starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman) and “Ryan’s Daughter”. Two great classics, who, thanks to this pretty beach, were once again able to sublimate the wild beauty of Ireland!
A must-see!
