Errigal Mountain is an Irish mountain in County Donegal. At 749 meters high, this mountain belongs to the Derryveagh Mountains, a gigantic mountain range in the north-west of the island of Ireland. Errigal Mountain is a true paradise for discerning hikers who want to experience the wilderness of the mountains!
Errigal Mountain is the highest mountain in the Derryveagh Mountains… Very high and with a significant vertical drop, this is the mountain that will require the most stamina from you if you climb it…
You can attack the mountain from its southern flank, which is an integral part of Glenveagh National Park. A starter path allows you to begin the ascent, but beware: the slope is steep, and you’ll need to be fairly comfortable.
Once you reach the summit of Errigal, you’ll be rewarded with a magnificent panorama overlooking the Poisoned Glen valley and the whole of Glenveagh National Park.
You’ll also see the Dunlewey Church, a superb Irish church dating from the 12th century, located at the very foot of Errigal Mountain. The church is located in the middle of nowhere, in a vast expanse of russet, stony moorland… Suffice to say, the show is simply magnificent!
Don’t forget your camera: it would be a shame not to bring back a few souvenirs of this exceptional view! Rain or shine, the panorama will be unrivalled, and will show you the face of a truly authentic Ireland!
