Kylemore Lough is undoubtedly one of the largest lakes in the Connemara region. The entire length of the N59 runs along the north side, offering impressive views of the surrounding area and mountains.

There’s very little traffic here, except in August when the tourist buses come and go non-stop. Choose a quieter period to soak up the majestic silence.

Preferably by car, bus or bike. The road is flat and easy to travel on two wheels.

Feel free to park your car and take a stroll along the water’s edge. The lake has incredible colors, particularly changing with the weather. The waters here are deep and dark, and home to a host of freshwater fish, including the famous Irish pike!
