Moyry Castle is a Northern Irish castle in County Armagh, north of Dundalk. Built in 1601 by Lord Mountjoy to help secure Moyry Pass and the Gap of the North, it’s one of the region’s coolest sights. A must-see if you love historical monuments!

Visit Moyry Castle

A charming castle lost in the wilds of Northern Ireland!

Château de Moyry is a small, rectangular, three-storey tower. Its windows and main entrance are still intact, and only the top of the tower has stood the test of time.

Partly in ruins, the tower bears the traces of an ancient defensive wall, as well as some ancient traces of foundations. The place is magical, and seems as if out of time.

You can visit it free of charge, provided you’re careful (the ruins are rather rickety). It has to be said that the surrounding area is rather quiet, and the château has a rare authenticity! A real postcard castle!
