North Bull Lighthouse, Dublin

Irish lighthouses
Le North Bull Lighthouse - William Murphy - cc

North Bull Lighthouse is one of 2 lighthouses (along with Poolbeg Lighthouse) marking the entrance to Dublin harbor. Easy to recognize with its green color, it stands precisely on the north side of the harbor entrance, and is one of the Irish capital’s iconic lighthouses.

See the North Bull Lighthouse

A lighthouse rubbing shoulders with men and the fury of the ocean…

Admittedly, North Bull Lighthouse is not the most imposing lighthouse in Ireland. Nevertheless, it’s one of Dublin’s best-known! It’s all down to its atypical color and architecture!

Entirely automated, you can only see it from the jetty: access is strictly forbidden to the general public. Take a stroll and admire the lighthouse, with its outer bell, 4-storey windows and clear, ramp-protected top.

And don’t miss the Poolbeg Lighthouse, located on the jetty less than 50 metres away… Here you can breathe in the fresh air and admire the rhythm of the ocean and the lighthouses that tirelessly guide the boats through the night and fog.
